THE 5th ANNUAL MAHMOUDI SCHOLARSHIP FOR JUSTICE

The Mahmoudi Scholarship invites African and Asian youth to apply for the 2025-2026 Scholarship.

Students engaged in advancing justice as the means to building a global community based on unity are encouraged to apply for the scholarship. The annual scholarship celebrates 15 to 18-year-olds who demonstrate academic excellence coupled with an exceptional commitment to service through increasing access to justice.

The applicants must be involved in either research activities or community service projects based on the application of justice to increasing racial, economic or gender equality, and are able to share their findings. This year’s call focuses on ‘just relationships as the foundation for flourishing communities’.

The scholarship offers financial support towards tuition and accommodation fees at secondary schools in Asia or Africa. Interested candidates must submit an application outlining their research or project findings in detail (1500 words). Call for applications is issued on August 8th to open on August 21st, and final applications and all supporting documents must be submitted between October 2 and December 27.

Following review by the independent panel, the results are publicly announced on World Education Day on 24 January each year.

The Scholarship is co-founded by the Zambian Gems Foundation in the UK with USA-based collaboration through the Mahmoudi Foundation.

Application Requirements

In order to apply for the scholarship, all interested applicants must:

Submit a complete copy of the application

Possess and maintain an academic record of 75% or higher, demonstrated by the current and past academic year report

Demonstrate a commitment to increasing awareness through a research paper or findings of a community project lasting at least 12 weeks.

Submit two letters of recommendation, one from a teacher and one from a community organisation, regarding the efficacy of the submissions

Please note that only complete applications will be considered. All references must be sent directly from the referee’s email account, and transcripts must be official and sent directly from the school.
